Valencia Montessori School’s philosophy follows the educational approach founded by Maria Montessori. Montessori education is centered on the child with the Educator guiding, rather than teaching and it is based upon a deep understanding of child development.
The connection between guide and student is paramount to the learners’ potential. The sense of home the child feels in the prepared learning environment is critical. The alignment between family and school is essential. We live, talk and respect each other as a Community. Each of these intentional connections provides access to rich and authentic growth.

Valencia Montessori School is giving its students an holistic education inspired in the Association Montessori Internationale principles (AMI). As an authentic Montessori school, VMS is a mixed private school, situated in Valencia, offering a complete education to students between 1 and 12 years of age.
It was founded in 2012 by Sonia Mocholi, with the aim of providing a respectful and responsable education for children who want to study in a multicultural environment through the Montessori Curriculum and following the Common Core as an American School.
A place where they are excited to learn, retain their knowledge and pursue their passions. Rather than restricting their natural tendencies, Valencia Montessori School’s Educational Programme uses children’s innate tendencies to their advantage.
Our team include the expertise on US Education Standards and Montessori pedagogy. Qualified teachers and AMI-trained guides carefully create indoor and outdoor environments to entice students to act on their educational interests. Rich in a variety of age-appropriate studies and manipulative materials, VMS classrooms are designed to invite children to move about and freely engage with other children and the teacher as desired. The goal is simple: help students discover for themselves as they develop learning skills that last a lifetime.
As an American School in Valencia, the school is officially recognised by Neasc (New England Association of Schools and Colleges).
Valencia Montessori’s alumni are eligible to transfer to any educational institution, either in Spain or abroad. We work closely with each family to ensure that each child is prepared for the choice that best suits them.
